White embroidery is a set of sewing techniques and ways of decoration with the white thread on white linen base and it can be considered as a recognisable characteristic of Pannonian cultural zone, although it can also be sporadically found in other cultural zones, i.e. types of Serbian folk costume. Its relatively inexpensive making and sophisticated look (white on white) made this way of decoration favourite in Reneissance, pushing out coloured and gold embroidery. One piece of clothing was most often decorated using various needlework techniques. One of the techniques is broaching an endless thread with the help of a needle (knitting, crocheting...) and the other one is a technique with the lace effect, most commonly known as prompt work.
